The Myth of the Straight Path

We’re often shown a version of healing that looks tidy and linear. You hit a low point, decide to change, put in the work, and then—boom—you’re healed. Cue the sunrise yoga, green smoothies, and glowing “I’m finally at peace” posts.

But that’s not real life.

Real healing is messy. It’s confusing. It’s full of highs and lows, steps forward and back. Some days you feel light and free, other days you’re triggered by things you thought you already worked through. And that’s okay.

The idea that healing is a one-way road sets us up to feel like we’re failing when we struggle. But healing isn’t a destination—it’s a journey, with twists, pauses, and circles. You're not doing it wrong just because you're not "done" yet.

In fact, no one really is.
